We’ve worked on improving the lives of people through ICT initiatives.
The Fanaka Foundation was founded in response to the Covid-19 pandemic where there was a tremendous need in supporting people in South Africa. The Directors and Management of M4Jam found a solution to assist M4Jam Jobbers and beneficiaries on the their platform. Over fifty five thousand people were supported during this period with over twenty Million rands in the form of food hampers purchased from Spaza shops across South Africa, Training incentives, data and Grant funding raised.
It was during this process that the Fanaka Foundation NPC was founded to continue this into the future.
The Fanaka Foundation is an organisation dedicated to empowering South Africans through ICT. We are passionate about addressing the national agenda of reducing unemployment, poverty alleviation and economic growth. To that end, we are determined to meaningfully facilitate the participation of previously non-active individuals in the mainstream economic activities of South Africa.
Why We Exist
To collaborate with like-minded business resources to impact and mitigate the challenges in becoming economically active for people within various rural areas of South Africa.
These challenges include:
The lack of technical and digital skills perpetuate poverty and inequality.
Inequality and minimal Skills Development opportunity.
Being situated in remote area, limits access to work and development opportunities while still residing in your area.
THE COST OF DATA IN AREAS WITH LIMITED INFRASTRUCTURE
MASSIVE GAPS BETWEEN FORMAL & INFORMAL MARKETS
Desperate need to transform what are often marginal and survivalist activities into decent forms of work.
Unreliable connectivity fuels the socio-economic inequalities that already exist.
